What is keyword density?
Keyword density tells you what percentage of all words in a text is a given keyword. It has traditionally been used as a measure of how strongly a piece of content covers a particular topic. While Google no longer rewards mechanical repetition, reviewing density helps you confirm that your text covers its main topic clearly enough — without over-optimising.
This tool separates single words, two-word phrases and three-word phrases. Multi-word phrases often reveal real search terms better than single words. Common filler words (such as "the", "and", "of") are filtered out so that meaningful terms stand out.
How to read the results
- Keep density natural: around 0.5–2.5% for your main keyword is plenty — write for people first.
- Use phrases: two- and three-word phrases usually match real searches more closely.
- Avoid over-optimisation: if a term repeats unnaturally often, vary it with synonyms.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good keyword density?
A common recommendation is to keep your main keyword around 0.5–2.5%. What matters most is that the text reads naturally — overusing keywords (keyword stuffing) can hurt rankings.
What does n-gram mean?
An n-gram is a sequence of n consecutive words. "1 word" means single keywords, "2 words" means two-word phrases and "3 words" means three-word phrases. Multi-word phrases often reveal the most important search terms.
